On Saturday at 10am I'm... Either getting done with a hike or already making smoothies for the family

If I had an extra day a week I would... Learn to play the piano faster than I am now, lol!

Mountains or ocean? Ocean - born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa and now a California girl - I will always be a beach girl!

The one vegetable I can’t live without: Only because when I cook, it’s the easiest thing to add, I’d say spinach. But for something that provides significant flavor to everything, I’d have to say onion - but honestly love all veggies. A big ol’ medley of them, lol!

Favorite city for food: Seville or Barcelona - but we’re pretty spoiled in California

Favorite Thistle item: Any This is tough - everything we have tried so far is so delicious! We haven’t had a single bad item. But since I had it today, I’ll say the kale Caesar salad.

Most interesting thing in my fridge/freezer: Nothing too crazy - either the insane number of frozen fruits for smoothies or the stock pile of black eyed peas and gumbo from every New Year’s Day - we pull them out to defrost for emergencies. I know, I know, or great, lol!

Most unique hobby/pastime: Not sure how unique, but when we immigrated I kept playing Netball as that was what I grew up playing (since I was 5 years old). In prior lives I was a Creative Director, hospitality designer and photographer, but after becoming a mom, it’s been a bit focus to make sure that I’m intentional about my time and how we live our lives. I guess piano for hobby now though.

I make a positive impact on the planet by… Creating and running Mighty Market, a sustainable and regenerative focused business that allows others options to lessen their footprint as well.

Best time management tip: It used to be meal prep Sunday, but now I don’t need that anymore! 😂

I feel most energized when I’m… Once I’ve accomplished something I doubted

Before Thistle, my quick go to meal was… Growing up in South Africa our schooling is different and I studied culinary arts. Honestly, food has always played a huge role in my life and upbringing and have cooked the MAJORITY of meals for my family and husband for 16 years, so ive always been cooking and never into fast food. But if we had to get something quickly, it would either be thai or sushi. Or if something fast from home then a banana.

If you have a job, what do you do? I have a few jobs, the one that pays the bills is working at Clif Bar as an Ingredient Specialist on the Innovation team. My passion is working on my farm and creating events to share the space with the community. My favorite job is being a mom to my 2 daughters.

With Thistle, I have more time to… Focus on everything else that I need to do. I actually eat something that’s delicious and good for me. I spend so much time making sure my family is fed but I tend to neglect my needs. Thistle has been the game changer that I’ve been looking for.


On Saturday at 10am I'm... Playing outside with my daughter. Feeding our baby cows. Or out and about running errands.

If I had an extra day a week I would... Have a true “me day”. A day that I spent taking care of me. Working out, going on a hike with a friend, getting a massage or maybe even just taking a nap. It all sounds so dreamy.
